Anne really took the time to flesh out each and every one of her characters. Anne’s take on everything was very intriguing!Īnother reason I love it so much: The characterization was EPIC!! It’s been a long time since I’ve read a book with such amazing characters. I’ve never read anything like it! And that was one of the reasons this was a 5 star book for me: It’s so fresh and unique and easily stands out among the sea of other books. I think that’s what made it so interesting it’s a conglomeration of multiple genres, but instead of being messy it’s interesting. It’s also dystopian! The Others have full control of the world. It’s more of High Fantasy than UF because while it’s similar to our world, it isn’t. But it’s SO much more than that! It’s hard to really categorize it, honestly. She was so right! I was blown away by Bishop’s world. Book twin Octavia has been telling me forever that I need to read this because it was amazing.

And when he learns the truth about Meg and that she’s wanted by the government, he’ll have to decide if she’s worth the fight between humans and the Others that will surely follow. Yet a stronger instinct propels him to give Meg the job. First, he senses she’s keeping a secret, and second, she doesn’t smell like human prey. Shape-shifter Simon Wolfgard is reluctant to hire the stranger who inquires about the Human Liaison job. But when she escapes, the only safe place Meg can hide is at the Lakeside Courtyard-a business district operated by the Others. Meg’s Controller keeps her enslaved so he can have full access to her visions. As a cassandra sangue, or blood prophet, Meg Corbyn can see the future when her skin is cut-a gift that feels more like a curse.
